Scarification
Thinning out thatch using the Scarification process
It is very common for lawns in time to suffer from over-application of fertiliser and this is where lawn scarification is needed. Along with excessive mowing, this can lead to a build-up of thatch, which manifests itself as a matted mess of dead grass and roots. Excessive thatch stops water from being able to drain away and in time it will have a negative impact on the quality of your grass. Thatch also creates the ideal condition for things like disease and moss to thrive and prevents your grass from flourishing.
The solution for a build-up of thatch is scarification. This involves the removal of surface thatch to allow better airflow, moisture and nutrients to reach and penetrate the roots.
The outcome of lawn scarification is healthier grass and reduced moss whilst increasing tilling and helping with worm control in the soil.
Scarification should be carried out regularly on lawns to control the quality of growth and future proof the survival of a healthy lawn.
We provide professional scarification services for residents across Suffolk and Essex to help them make light work of maintaining their lawns for a healthier and more attractive garden.
