Tree Surgery and Maintenance
Tree Surgery and Maintenance Services
Like every living species of tree requires regular maintenance from a high-quality tree surgeon to ensure its health and wellbeing. Every tree we maintain requires a unique approach and following an inspection we can advise on the best course of action to maintain the health of your trees.
Following a period of seasonal growth is when we are most active maintaining trees, whether that is the crowning of a tree to reduce height and weight, or limb bracing to ensure the stability and safety of a tree, or indeed, simple pruning to reshape and clear out dead wood from the tree.
As trees grow, they continually put added pressure on weight baring locations. Very often, this is to the detriment of a tree, and can open up the possibilities of added problems with diseases and structural deficiencies.

Typical our work in maintaining trees includes:
Crown reduction:
Reducing canopy size can put extra stresses on a tree because of the cuts required. This is why a professional tree surgeon is required to make the right kind of cuts to a tree and understanding the structural requirements to maintain the health of that tree. Crown reduction is a pretty severe method of pruning trees and does require that expertise.
Crown reduction is only really required when you need to reduce the weight of potentially dangerous limbs, or to create a balance of weight distribution, taking away any obstructions to the surrounding environment, or in many cases to stop any interference with overhead telephone and power lines. Occasionally, Crown reduction is required if root system of a mature tree is decaying.
Pruning and thinning:
Very often our work involves the thinning of trees. This helps to take away the dead wood that can build up over time and add further stress to a tree. Thinning enables us to make selective cuts and redistribute weight, while pruning to improve the aesthetics of the tree.
Limb bracing
The use of bracing may negate a need for pruning of flawed limbs or unions. We carry out either cable or rod bracing which in turn stabilises a tree and doesn’t ruin the obvious aesthetics. Sometimes we may recommend the partial or complete removal of a branch, especially where health and safety is concerned.
The process is to install cables and rods in strategically placed locations. These will provide the necessary support for weak limbs with rods being used to insert into weak fork unions, and cables being attached to areas higher in the crown.
If you have a tree that requires maintenance, our team of high quality tree surgeons will be able to advise the best solution for your tree and maintaining longevity and health. Get in touch with us on 01206 243 484 to book your survey.
