Tree Planting: What Do You Need to Know?

If you’ve decided that you’d like some trees planted in your garden or on a larger area of land, you might not be sure where to start. We’ve got everything you need to know here in our guide.

When to plant

Generally, trees are planted from November through to March, because trees roots are dormant and can manage being moved about better. Common types of tree to plant include maple, willow, and birch. Although trees do take years to grow, checking that you have enough space around the planting area is important so that the tree has enough room to grow in to.

The planting area

As well as space around the area, some other things to consider include the type of soil, the climate of the area, and the potential exposure to wind and other elements. Poor soil can affect the growth of a tree, so soil replacement is a potential course of action.

Any future plans for the area that you want to plant on should also be considered; will more trees eventually be planted, or will there be building work nearby? Make sure that everything is considered so that there are no problems caused by the tree in the future.
